H.E Saqr Ghobash, UAE Minister of Labor, will lead a delegation to the International Forum for Migration and Development 2009 being held in the Greek capital, Athens on the 4th and 5th of November.

In an interview to Emirates News Agency "WAM", the minister said that UAE's participation in the forum is an important opportunity to engage in International dialogue on issues of labor migration in order to establish the concept of multiple models of labor migration and the need to take the specifications of each of them in the formulation of standards and policies of its administration.

There is an other objective, which is seeking to adopt the forum and embrace regional cooperation initiatives in the field of labor migration, he added.

He observed that this would confer a degree of international legitimacy of the efforts done by the UAE with Asian countries represented in the Abu Dhabi declaration and the pilot project with India and the Philippines on the management of contractual work session .

UAE has participated in the Brussels meeting in 2007 as an observer, its delegation also participated in the preparatory meetings for the Manila meeting in 2008 and succeeded by providing the presidency of one of the main sessions in addition to inviting H.E the Minister of Labor to speak at the opening session.
