The Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) called on the people to deal with the identity card carefully and responsibly and not to provide strangers with any data, especially over telephones.
The call comes in confirmation of the warning issued today by Dubai Police to avoid providing data of ID cards over the telephone without ascertaining the identity of the caller.
EIDA stressed in a statement that it is the duty of the card holder to protect the confidentiality of his private data contained in the card in order to avoid the exploitation of these data for illegal matters in the event obtained by the fraudsters.
EIDA confirmed that the commitment of the card holders to the responsibility of protecting the information would contribute to maintaining the confidentiality of client information and to eliminate any legal action that may result later.
It would also achieve the objectives of the Authority in the development of infrastructure that enables secure and integrated access to and exchange of data.
It also appealed to the card holders to report to the EIDA service centres in case of loss of the card and urged those who find any lost cards to hand them over to the authorities immediately as they have no right to keep them.
