The Zakat Fund today unveiled an automatic teller machine (ATM) in the city of Al Ain as part of its pioneering endeavour to employ the most advanced technology in the collection of Zakat and its distribution.
Zakat is an obligatory due of at least 2.5percentage on the wealth of each Muslim individual.
The ATM was commissioned at a simple ceremony attended by officials in Al Ain.
Secretary General of Zakat Fund Abdullah Bin Aqeeda Al Muhairi said that the Fund has now installed a total of 16 macines in various parts of Abu Dhabi emirate to help people deposit their Zakat dues either by cheque or in cash.
