The UAE has declared three days of official mourning

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is today in mourning, for what he describes as, “the Emirati gallant soldiers” who tragically lost their lives in Yemen.

45 Emirati soldiers were killed in the line of duty in Ma’rib, during ‘Operation Restore Hope’, as part of the Arab alliance to support the people of Yemen and their legitimate government. Many others have been seriously injured, raising fears that the death toll could rise.

Five Bahraini soldiers were also killed.

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs has issued a statement praying to the Almighty Allah to grant their souls rest in Paradise and bestow patience and solace upon their families and upon the UAE people.
A three-day official mourning period has also been declared, during which time the UAE national flag will be flown at half-mast.
