Smart Government

On 22 May 2013, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid announced the launch of Smart Government to provide the best services to the people round the clock. His Highness identified the features of Smart Government as:

• A government that never sleeps
• Works 24/7 and 365 days a year
• It is as hospitable as hotels
• Fast in service delivery
• Strong in its procedures
• Improves the quality of life and helps people achieve happiness
• Adaptive
• Innovative

Smart Government does not replace e-government, but rather complements it and acts as its extension. The two concepts have been brought together to achieve integrated goals of achieving citizen happiness, making their life easier, and promoting economic and competitive activity. The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority works on the implementation of the Smart Government initiative, and implements the e-government strategy on the federal level.
